What's Inside
Six chapters, one ecosystem.
The whole stack mapped, from the foundry floor to enterprise adoption: hardware, policy, compute and models, startups and capital, talent, and applied AI. Plus a direct read on where Taiwan lags and where the pieces now point the same way.
The Hardware Engine
What Taiwan already owns
Policy & Governance
How the state is enabling AI
Compute, Research & Models
The layers beneath the software
Startups & Capital
The commercial AI layer
Talent, Access & Community
The people, and how to reach them
Applied AI
Where AI is deployed
Where Taiwan Lags

See the list ↓The Hardware Stack
Taiwan owns the silicon.
Five layers, from the foundry to the edge. Taiwan controls the bottom of the global AI stack; the software and adoption layers above it are smaller, climbing fast, and now backed by state capital and a national AI law in force since January 2026.
Layer 01
Foundry
TSMC takes 70.2% of global foundry revenue and is the single point of dependency at the leading edge, where almost every advanced AI accelerator is fabricated. The 2nm node ramped in 2026.
Layer 02
Advanced packaging
CoWoS is the global bottleneck on AI-accelerator supply. TSMC is close to doubling capacity to roughly 120,000 wafers a month by the end of 2026, with ASE the main partner downstream.
Layer 03
IC design
MediaTek leads the fabless tier as the world's largest mobile-SoC vendor after Qualcomm. Realtek owns connectivity and audio silicon; Andes is the largest commercial supplier of RISC-V processor cores.
Layer 04
AI-server assembly
Taiwan firms assemble more than 90% of the world's AI servers. Foxconn leads at about 40% global share, with Quanta, Wistron, Wiwynn, and Inventec building the next tier of hyperscaler racks.
Layer 05
Edge AI
Taiwan holds roughly 70% of the industrial-computer market. Advantech is the largest at about 41% share and runs an explicit edge-AI strategy across its AIR-series systems.
About the publisher
TribeROI Insights.
TribeROI Insights
TribeROI Insights publishes research on the communities and ecosystems where measurable outcomes get created but rarely get measured. Our data-driven insights depend on qualitative grounding: primary sources and direct engagement with the practitioners themselves. This edition maps Taiwan's AI ecosystem, produced in collaboration with the Taiwan AI Startups Community.
TribeROI
TribeROI is the AI-powered measurement platform connecting community to business outcomes. We aggregate signals from every surface where community happens, using a proprietary framework to tie that activity to revenue, retention, support, hiring, and product innovation, so executive stakeholders can finally see and act on the influence community already has across the business.
Taiwan AI Startups Community (TASC)
Taiwan AI Startups Community connects the founders, builders, researchers, students, investors, and enthusiasts shaping the future of AI in Taiwan. It creates spaces to learn from working startup experience, discover emerging technologies, and collaborate across Taiwan's growing AI ecosystem, with a vision of elevating Taiwan as a global AI hub powered by startups building great software here.
